If you want to use battery or gas powered equipment, please check with the land owner first. All of these sites allow pans and sluices. The places I have highlighted here are ALL places where you don’t need to worry about federally registered mining claims or hostile private property owners. Either I would do a complete cleanup relax and go get supplies in town on the same day or maybe sometimes split it up in two. There are a surprising number of places in Colorado where you can dig for free (or for a token fee). I think I took one maybe two days off a week Max. I've dredged for a month solo and I would do 8 hours a day by myself constantly sucking up material. Obviously it's TV but my impression from watching them on TV is they barely do over 3 hours at a time. And many people even operate 6-in dredges solo but it's a lot of work! Once you get to an 8-in dredge in just about any River gravel you absolutely need a rock man there's just way too many huge Boulders that pop out immediately. I've dredged extensively on 5-in dredge solo because you really don't need two people for a 5-inch dredge. But both these Crews constantly stop dredging for every little thing. Obviously people switch shifts and what not. You have one person on the nozzle for 8 hours a day and another person who is your rock man underwater. It's pretty basic for a team of gold dregers. Real gold dredgers who are dealing with lots of rocks and a little bit of time will always have two people in the water so one person never ever stops sucking up material. They make way too many excuses to always stop the dredge. But my real gripe about the show being a gold dredger is I think they spend more time hiking than actually gold dredging. Most of the gold including the fine gold will fall out rather quickly if you know what you're doing with your equipment. But really you don't need a super long sluice if ran appropriately. You can most definitely blow a lot of fine gold out. It's not the always the length of the sluice but it's the pitch among other things like volume. I've gold dredged extensively in the past.
